I was wondering the reasoning behind what I saw today.  My principal came to me with his hard drive in hand to show me something because he felt like no one would believe him.  His computer wasn't working.  After taking it apart, he found an ant under the arm of the hard drive, therefore causing the error message.  There were also other ants on
the hard drive.  Why would ants be attracted to a computer?

RESPONSE:
Dear Patti, some ants e.g., fire ants are attracted to electricty - others may be eating crumbs that have fallen by the computer and/or trying to build a nest in a nice warm, protected spot.  Vacumn daily and/or lightly dust with Comet or talcum powder.  Do not foul up your computer.

Best regards,  Steve.
