Aldrin applied by a pest control company, sickens then kills child

In May of 1965, my parents had their home exterminated for termites. The chemical used was Aldrin. Within in weeks after the extermination, Curt, my 3 year old brother, began to get sick. At first he was treated for the common things like viruses and such. When he did not improve, he was hospitalized for tests. All tests for childhood sicknesses and diseases came back normal. When my parents told about the extermination, a blood sample was sent for analysis. The results were aldrin poisoning. He remained in the hospital until his death in August of 1965. He died a slow horrible death, suffering seizures and kidney failure.

We have never known exactly how he came in contact with the Aldrin. We only know that the chemical was poured into a trench, which was dug around my parents' home by the exterminating company. Also, aldrin was freely sprayed under the house and poured into holes the exterminating company drilled into the wooden pillars.

Aldrin was banned in the 1970's due to its potency. It does not break down in the body. Our bodies store Aldrin. That is why nothing worked for Curt--not even when they tried several blood transfusions.

Our lives have been deeply affected by Curt's death. He is never far from our thoughts. My parents have never been the same. We love and miss him always.
