Chemically Sensitive child exposed to pesticide
Today my 5 year old chemically sensitive son had an exposure to a pesticide called Bifenthrin, a "non-alpha-cyano pyrethroid" which the pest control company states does not have the risks associated with other pyrethroids. Of course, they told me "all of our chemicals are very safe" (which I thought was illegal?) and "if a product is dangerous to animals or humans then we won't use it."
I have done some research online but not found much useful info about this particular pesticide's effects. Can you tell me anything about its effects?
I have on file with my landlord a Request for Reasonable Accommodation submitted a month or two ago. It requests no pesticides, herbicides, or synthetic fertilizers be used anywhere on the property, signed by my physician. Do you know if they are required to abide by it if they have not responded indicating otherwise within some specified period of time? Today, with no notice, I saw a pest control applicator spraying in the building directly across from me. My highly chemically sensitive 5 year old son was out playing and played right along with the applicator while he was spraying for a few minutes, apparently.
I am concerned as he has gotten very sick from herbicide exposure in the past with tremors and so on. He has never been this close to a pesticide and I am quite worried.
Thanks for any help.
