My doctor prescribed malathion (trade name - Ovide).  I have had two treatments and it has not rid me of the scabies. I had really BAD adverse effects from the Ovide. Slept most of 48 hours after first treatment. Felt disoriented. Apathetic. and my left eyelid twitched involuntarily.

Went back to druggist. He said if 'first' application did not rid me of the scabie infestation ... then it must be a different skin problem. That did not sound correct because I recalled that he had initially stated "if the first treatment does not work you may need to apply a second treatment with the Ovide lotion.

Price of Ovide o.5% lotion 69 ml cost me $62.80. is there anything 'strange' about this matter? And should I select another doctor for a second opinion?

The pharmacist told me that Malathion was the only thing that 'worked' ... and that Lindane was banned because it was believed that it was carcinogenic.

(What does he 'think' Malathion IS!!!!!!!

I have laundered everything I wear on a daily basis. My sheets, blankets and placed pillows in air tight plastic bag. Sprayed sofa and chairs and mattress and around sofa and bed.  What else can I do?
