Residents of Collinsville, IL poisoned - who are the terrorists now?

I am a resident of Collinsville, IL.  On Saturday a.m. my husband and I were sleeping with an attic fan on when we slowly became aware of the fact that our house had become filled with insecticide.  I cannot overstate how powerful the odor was or how frightening the experience -- I wondered, "biological warefare?".  My eyes were watering and my throat swollen.  I am sixty-four years old and have never been exposed to such dense insecticide.  We shut off the fan and called the police.  We were told that the city was spraying for mosquitos due to the West Nile Virus.  Thirty min. later we tried to clear the house by turning the attic fan back on only to discover that the air was still thick with insecticide.  I believe this to be a knee-jerk reaction by an uninformed city council.  I think that the exposure to noxious chemicals is more threatening than the virus.  My husband was buzzed by a mosquito when going out to get the paper the next a.m. What can I do?

Thanks,

Collinsville, IL

Dear Friend,

Welcome to the realization of terror in the air... not from outside sources but from our own government.

Many people have been permanently injured. Many don't understand that they have been poisoned and may develop symptoms immediately or over the next several years.

What can be done? In many places residents are banding together to stop the madness. You might try contacting your City Hall and finding what they are using and if they have any type of protocol that required notification of residents. Contact the EPA in your region: http://www.safe2use.com/poisons-pesticides/gov-contact/epa-offices.html and report what you consider to be a misuse of pesticides.  Cities often hire out the poisoning jobs and have been known not to supervise.

Also, contact your elected officials on the state and national level. Elected officials think everything is just fine until the electorate tell them differently.

In the meantime, I have posted your story at: http://www.getipm.com/articles/letters/mosquito-il.htm This helps others looking for answers know that they are not alone. If you do not want to be identified or want additional information included, please let me know.
