We were growing hydroponic vegetables and they became infested with spider mites. We lived in a small farming community outside of Milwaukee, WI. We were told at the nursery that Pentac-Aquaflow would be the best solution to our mite problem. We bought it. My husband mixed up the pesticide according to directions the label read WARNING. It also said it was safe to humans, just wear long pants and shirt etc. No respirator or face mask nothing. It took us about 8-10 hours to do the job. I noticed I had a headache and I felt like throwing up but I passed it off as stress since this was our livelihood. About 5 hours into the spraying I began to lose my voice, I thought it might be bronchitis or a cold. By 10:00 a.m. that evening my lungs had shut down and my husband! was taking me to the ER. I was put on a lung machine given several drugs to open my lungs and because my head felt like it was going to blow off some pain med. as well. That was the beginning.  

My life turned upside down. I had constant migraines, asthma so bad I couldn't walk fast without having an attack (never had any breathing problems prior) I was always sick with flu like symptoms. My hands would crack and bleed and I had lots of sensitivities to all kinds of stuff I never had before. Things have just continued to get worse. I have never been able to work since. I have two beautiful children that have never seen me well. And trying to find someone to help is like... impossible. If anyone out there knows about organochlorine exposure or has knowledge that would be valuable I'd be very grateful to hear from you.
