Young Child's Leukemia linked to pesticides and chemicals
I am a homebuilder in Georgia.
Two years ago, my then 4 year old son was diagnosed with a childhood leukemia.
In our efforts to understand how he may have acquired cancer at such a young age, we checked our environment. Upon having our water tested, we found several volatile organic compounds in unsafe levels including carbon tetrachloride, 1,2 dichloroethane and benzene. Two pesticides, bromocil and alachlor were also found in unsafe levels. EPD shut down the well and an investigation continues today on the source(s) of this toxic brew.
We believe that these chemicals came from the industries close by. I am wanting to incorporate healthy home technology in my building business, and am searching for alternatives to standard pest control treatments. Will I have a hard time getting a termite letter of approval without a pest control company in order to close a house? I am very interested in Get IPM, and would appreciate any info you could offer me concerning this.
We truly want to be an advocate of keeping homes healthy to avoid the problems we faced. Thank you for your work. Sincerely, Jeff McElheney Athens, Georgia
