Dear Whoever Gets This,
I am writing to you because someone very close to me was recently diagnosed with AML Leukemia. She is only eight years old. Her mother has not made the connection but I have. She had a case of head lice in December of this year. Her mother used an over the counter head lice treatment. In March, she was diagnosed with very bad form of leukemia. This once healthy, athletic ,beautiful little girl has now been fighting to stay alive. Just this week, she had a 105 fever and was vomiting blood. The part of the disease that I don't understand is how she got this horrible illness. It keeps haunting me HEAD LICE<HEAD LICE< HEAD LICE. Please e-mail me back if you feel there could be a connection and how this is kept from well meaning and loving parents.
Also, what should be my next step?

I want to thank you for responding to my letter about
head lice and leukemia.
I am still in shock after viewing your web site all the
pesticides and potential law suits. Most alarming was your web sites info on
OTC head lice products. It stated the potency of the head lice product was the
equivalent to 3X the strength of a can of Raid. I know if that info was made
more readily available parents would not use it. My very special someone is
still very ill in the hospital. She is still very sick with leukemia. We
watched home movies over the weekend and we all cried at how healthy and
beautiful this little girl was just 6 months ago until she put the RID on her
hair. I am almost convinced that is what caused her illness. She was last
treated with the headlice medicine on Dec. 21,2000. She was diagnosed with AML
leukemia on Mar. 23,2001. They said she had the leukemia about 6 weeks before
she was diagnosed. I picture those awful chemicals going into her bloodstream
and causing all those problems. Let me know any info you may find.
