Rashes and bumps after using Rid and Nix

I have three daughters and of the three my middle child has the thickets longest hair. She got them where my other girls did not. We have used Nix and Rid with NO success. We continue to see live adults and louse. I'm so completely tired of the fight. It's been going on now for weeks. We used a 'pet' shampoo with a mild pyrethrin as suggested by so many on the net but she and I both had an allergic reaction to this product. We both got a 'tad' in our mouths during shampoo and ended up with raised bumps in the back of the tongue and sore small 'white' burning like bumps on the end of our tongues. I didn't 'know' the shampoo was the cause until I put 2 and 2 together. 2 months ago she spent the night with a friend where lice was found and the mom called to say they would "Nix" the hair. She broke out with a rash under her arm and this tongue problem. The doctor couldn't tell us what it was and basiclly said it would go away. This time...I knew it. It was a mild allergic reaction to the pyrethrin. So be careful ...it is an allergin and harmful to humans folks. The lice are obviously becoming resistant to most of the cures out there in packages so it's time to do what our grandmothers and their mothers use to do: My husband is on his way to the store now to buy the ingredients for this home remedy. He found this remedy online and I believe if we follow the iinstructions we have a good chance of getting rid of them.
