Dear Bill, It's your insistence that these poisons are "safe" (sic) that alarms me. If you had the slightest bit of awareness regarding their harmfulness I would at least not feel as frightened. You're like the guy carrying the bomb, and assuring me it's safe because it's you who's dropping it. Crop dusting is your livelihood, so I imagine it would be impossible to admit your potentially causing harm to other beings, and continue to keep your your job. To keep your job, it's probably useful to believe that what you're doing is somehow "safe". I also don't care to argue differences with you; however I have seen the UC study proving organic produces more. Besides, some of us don't really want more food, we simply want to have an environment where us and are children don't have to be exposed to poisons. And if I had my way, I'd love to see you put out of business. James Smallwood Pesticide Awareness and Alternative Coalition By the way Bill, you're probably thinking, "Oh Mr. Smallwood, just another granola, another one of those environmentalist, tree huggers, doom-sayers". Well, I'm not even an environmentalist. I'd like to go back to the days when we didn't have poisons, and polluted air, back to the days when we didn't have people like you poisoning our environment, (we had strawberries before we had pesticides) and then making us wrong because we don't want to have to worry about getting sick, getting cancer, having to deal with the stress and worry of poisons in the air we breathe. I'm sick of people like you who feel entitled and justified to poison our air, and don't seem to have the slightest bit of conscience about it. On top of that, you treat us like a bunch of stupid complainers, just a bunch of whiners, who because of some birth defect or mental retardation are missing the part of their brain that should understand  you, accept you, even embrace you for protecting us from all those bad, bad bugs. Do me a favor Bill, just go away.

Go get 'em, Steve!

Steve,

Yes!! Get him! I haven't had so much fun since Nixon resigned. You don't need to respond if you don't want to. I know you are busy.

Steve .. Send these two letters for publishing in the SF Chronicle or LA Times ... this guy is so off base and naive about the stuff he is using that I think the public might be a little aghast at who is out there making decisions about what, when and where to spray poisonous and cancer-causing substances ... for no reason, since, as you say, GRAS materials and/or good old organic practices, work. Steve,

A pamphlet produced by which pesticide manufacturer? :) I hope he doesn't think you are really that stupid. I am very much enjoying your contribution.

I think we are soon going to see an increase in poisoned people because of the Taliban situation and continued grievous incompetence by American doctors who are brainwashed by corporations ($$) or unwilling to increase their knowledge in this area. Please let us/me know when you come across examples of this too.

Sharon

Thanks Steve,

As former psychologist I suggest another tact that Bill might consider and that is that these complaints from TN are simply from a bunch of cranks who's symptoms are obviously "all in their head". By the way, I would also suggest a "new policy"; that people do not get blanket permission to use pesticides, and that before they get to, they have to prove their safe.As at is, it seems sort of backwards that people just get to use poisons designed to kill, and if we don't want them in our environment then we have to prove they're unsafe.!!??!?!?

Hey Steve,
Did you here in Florida they are using TIDE laundry detergent in the clean-up process for Anthrax. Do you really believe they got Tide registered as a pesticide before they began using it for this purpose. - Dennis Young

No, "They" do what "they" want - whenever "they" want. Steve

Subject: Re: Crop Dusters................A point of view?Dear Steve:

You do have some actual references late in your article. However, it is unfortunate to begin with "ENVIRONMENTAL RESEARCH" and give no reference at all as to when or where it was published. I know you have the references and I know it is a bother to list them. I try always to do so in our publications for the League of Women Voters and in NOHA NEWS (Nutrition for Optimal Health Asociation).

Keep up your great work. I forwarded two of your articles, including the one about "Chemical Warfare," to our church today.

Marjorie

RESPONSE:

Dear Marjorie,

All of my references prior to 11/5/95, were completely destroyed in an "accidental" fire that totally destroyed my office and a lifetime of research, records, files, books, articles, etc. Previous to that another "accidental" fire completely destroyed my home. It no longer is a bother to list them - it is an impossibility.

Sorry, Steve

P.S. I was speaking at ameeting a few years ago when a man came up and told me that he would be there for my third fire. He was overheard by a State Police Officer in civilian clothes.
